SAN MARINO: “No to bullying” by Piqued Jacks!

Piqued Jacks is the band that will represent San Marino in Eurovision 2023. With the song “Like an Animal” they won Una Voce per San Marino, and they will try to bring a good result for the microstate. On Saturday, they were at the Barcelona Eurovision Party , where the fans who were there did not treat them so well.

More specifically, as soon as the band went on the stage, the audience started chanting the name of Ronela Hajati, Albania ‘s representative in Eurovision 2022 and participant in this year’s Una Voce per San Marino.

This fact is something that made a negative impression to the band, whereas many people rushed to support them after the incident. Piqued Jacks also issued a related announcement through a tweet.

Even San Marino’s state broadcaster, San Marino RTV, was not unmoved by the incident. In a different statement they issued, they stand by the group, support their effort, while condemning any behaviour that incites the Eurovision contest and its values.

Certainly it is normal not to like all the songs of Eurovision 2023, but the respect for the artists’ effort to represent their country and show their work to the world must be omnipresent in any circumstance.

Piqued Jacks will release the revamp of “Like an Animal” on April 5th, and will also be present at the Warsaw Eurovision Party next Saturday.

San Marino was drawn to perform in the 12th place of the second semi-final on May 11.
