JUNIOR EUROVISION 2023: The entries (Part 1)!

November is here and that means Junior Eurovision is just around the corner, so what better way than to start the countdown by presenting this year’s entries.

As we informed you in our previous article about the details of the Opening Ceremony , today Ogae Greece will start presenting you the entries of the 16 countries that will take part in the Junior Eurovision 2023 competition that will be held on November 26 in Nice of France at 16:00 CET.

The presentation of the entries will therefore take place in four parts where 4 entries will be presented in each of them. The order in which the countries will be presented is alphabetical.
Let’s start!

🇦🇱 Albania

After the “Junior Fest” national final was held, the winner was Viola Gjyzeli with ” Bota Ime ” (My World). Born in Italy to Albanian parents . Viola first showed her love of performing at the age of 7 when she entered and won a children’s singing competition in her hometown of Durrës. This trophy was only the beginning of the young singer’s journey, as in the following years she continued to work towards her dream of becoming a professional singer.

The music of the song was written by Enis Mullaj while its lyrics were written by Eriona Rushiti , the talented lyricist behind the Albanian Eurovision Song Contest entries, ” Ktheju Tokës ” (2019) and Duje (2023).

Below you can listen to Albania ‘s participation:

🇦🇲 Armenia

Armenia is one of the most beloved countries in the competition but also one of the most successful. He has won the competition twice , while he has been in second place five times and has never finished outside the top ten . Last year’s organizer this year is sending a girl band , (second time in its history) the Yan Girls (Nane, Nensi, Kamilla, Syuzana and Aida) with the song ” Do It My Way”. The song has strong K-pop influences and was written by a very successful team. In particular, the lyrics belong to the girl who gave the country its second victory, Maléna and Vahram Petrosyan , while the music has been written by tokionine , composer of ” Qami Qami ” with which Armenia achieved its second victory in 2021. Did the Will Armenia achieve another victory “in its own way”?

🇲🇰 North Macedonia

North Macedonia was the first country to announce a representative. Specifically, in mid-May, it was announced that Tamara Grujeska will represent the country in Nice. Tamara is a young singer from Gostivar in North Macedonia who took her first steps in the world of music at the age of 5, when she started performing at children’s festivals.

The song is titled ” Kazi Mi, Kazi Mi Koj ” (Tell me, tell me who) and it’s a Balkan dynamic ballad that even makes the country one of this year’s favorites . In the composition of the song we meet the composer of ” Proud ” (ESC 2019), the entry that gave the country its best Eurovision result to date. The lyrics were written by both himself and Kosta Petrov . So hopes are high and, of course, North Macedonia has a good track record with the name Tamara…

🇫🇷 France

The last country that will be presented in the first part is the organizer France ! The country’s first participation was way back in 2004 where it finished in 6th place with “Si on voulait bien” and Thomas Pontier, which is also the country’s worst result in the competition. Then the country withdrew from the competition and returned in 2018, after a full 14 years. Since then the country has had a brilliant run in the competition having managed to not only win twice, but finish in the final five each year. It is noteworthy that for three consecutive years (2020-2022) the country has won the rating of the critical committees. So this year it organizes the competition for the second time and the anointing of representation was given to Zoé Clauzure who will sing for us ” Cœur ” (Heart). A composition by Julien Comblat and Jérémy Chapron , while the lyrics are signed by Noée Francheteau .

Zoé ‘s career is already full of successes, challenges and meetings with established artists. The teenage pianist from Montrouge has performed with Amir (ESC2 2016 France) and French singer-songwriter Yseult . He recorded several singles and reached the semi-finals of The Voice Kids in 2020.

An accomplished songwriter , the young star writes lyrics and chords , composes with Logic Pro software, and records her arrangements played on the piano where she posts to her social networks. But Zoé ‘s greatest passion is performing on stage… which she will be called upon to do on behalf of the host country.
