Johnny Logan

It’s official: SVT has announced that Johnny Logan will return to the Eurovision stage this year!

The three-time Eurovision winner, will be performing as an interval act at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, during the First Semi-Final on Tuesday 7 May.

The Australian born Irish singer and musician has happily accepted the invitation, stating:

“I am extremely honoured and excited to have been asked to perform as a guest on 7 May at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo. Sweden has won 7 times, as has Ireland. To be asked to represent my country one final time is something very special for me and I’m very grateful to all involved with the decision. I’m really looking forward to being back on the Eurovision stage as a guest this time and not a contestant.”

For the record, Johnny Logan, represented Ireland for the first time back in 1980 with the song “What’s another year”. He won the contest with 143 points. In 1987 he returned to the contest, managing to win once again, this time with “Hold me now”. The total of 172 points helped him not only win the contest but also to gain a worldwide career due to success of the song. Logan also became the only artist to win the Eurovision Song Contest twice, a record which the Irish singer was holding until last year. In 1992 he won again – this time as a songwriter, as he composed the winning entry “Why me?” performed by Linda Martin.

We kindly remind you that during the first semi final SVT has already announced that Benjamin Ingrosso will perform as the interval act while during the second semi final three beautiful female winners will perform on stage: Sertab, Charlotte and Helena.
