Malmö will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 on May 11th!

EBU and SVT put an end to our anxiety today by announcing the name of the city that will host the 2024 Eurovision! The team wasted no time, and with remarkable agility picked the lucky city. Therefore, the city that will have the honor and pleasure of hosting the 68th Eurovision Song Contest is…Malmö!

The dates!

In brief, just some moments after announcing the host city, SVT also announced the Eurovision 2024 dates :

  • 1st Semi-final – 7 May 2024
  • 2nd Semi-final – 9 May 2024
  • Grand Final – 11 May 2024

The time of selection !

With the hosting proposal submission period coming to an end, four cities have submitted their official files, Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg and Örnsköldsvik! In fact, the last one was a proposal – a surprise that few would have expected. OGAE Greece through exclusive information had already mentioned the city of Malmö as a favorite for the event!

Therefore, thinking about all the proposals and having taken into account all external factors, for each of the above cities, the decision-makers ended up in Malmö for the next event.

Meanwhile, a little earlier, the cities of Gothenburg and Ernskeldsvik were out of the race, with an official announcement by SVT.

Sweden’s 7th time hosting the Contest!

As a matter of fact, it will be the third time that the Eurovision contest will be hosted in the city of Malmö. In its history in the institution, Sweden has hosted the competition six times , while it is remarkable that the competition will take place in the same city that received it, and in 2013, after Loreen’s first victory!

  • 1975 – Stockholm
  • 1985 – Gothenburg
  • 1992 – Malmö
  • 2000 – Stockholm
  • 2013 – Malmö
  • 2016 – Stockholm
