Melodifestivalen 2024 – Presenters and returns!

Yesterday, Torbjörn Ek, journalist of Aftonbladet, a well-known news paper in Sweden, revealed – among other things – the hosts of Melodifestivalen 2024!

According to the report, Carina Berg and Björn Gustafsson will be the ones to present the shows of the next Melodifestivalen tour.

Carina Lilly Berg, during a time Luuk, (born 11 November 1977) is a Swedish comedian and television presenter. Berg began her media career at radio after finishing her studies, she started at Sveriges Radios local station in Västernorrland and then progressed to presenting Morgonpasset for Sveriges Radio P3 along with Peter Erixon between 2003 and 2005. She was also a sidekick in the radio show Lantz i P3 with Annika Lantz. In 2008 and early 2009 she worked for Mix Megapol on the show Äntligen helg med Breitholtz och Berg along with Daniel Breitholtz. In 2010 and early 2011 she worked on podradio along with Breitholtz for the magazine Yourlife. Along with Jenny Strömstedt she did the podradio broadcast Strömstedt & Berg for TV4.se and TV4 Play. After making her unofficial television debut in 2004 as a disabled reporter for CP-magasinet at SVT and her later role in God natt, Sverige, Berg in 2006 presented the comedy show Lilla vi (tar stor plats…) on TV4. Since then she has presented various shows such us Förkväll, The Idol 2007, Stjärnor på is, Berg flyttar in, Snillen snackar, The Voice, Bergs bärbara talkshow, Berg & Meltzer i Amerika, Berg & Meltzer i Europa & Ett jobb för Berg!

Björn Gustafsson (Lars Björn Gustafsson), born 19 February 1986 is a Swedish comedian and actor. He is known from TV shows such as Parlamentet and Stockholm Live. In 2008, he appeared on Melodifestivalen 2008, the Swedish selections for the Eurovision Song Contest. He sang a song to Kristian Luuk’s (the host) girlfriend Carina Berg (see above!). In his song he declared his love for her. Afterward, Berg said that she had to hide her cheeks so people could not see that she was blushing. Björn got voted as Sweden’s funniest man by Aftonbladet’s readers on 6 March 2008. He also read the Swedish votes at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008.

 

Big comebacks!

Danny Saucedo

Danny Saucedo is not a stranger to Melodifestivalen. He has participated four times, with excellent results. His very first time was in 2009 , as a member of the band EMD. Their song “Baby Goodbye” finished 3rd in the Grand Final. In 2011 he returned, this time as a solo artist. “In the Club” finished in 2nd place , losing to Eric Saade and “Popular“. His third attempt, just a year later, (2012), was “Amazing” and his… amazing performance. He finished 2nd for a second time in a row, losing this time to Loreen’s “Euphoria”. He returned in 2021 with “Dandi dansa”, qualifying direct to the final for a third time as a solo artist and finishing in seventh place in the final.

Elisa Lindström

Elisa Lindström, 32, is a Swedish pop and country music singer, and the lead singer for the dansband, Elisa’s. In November 2013 it was revealed that Lindström would participate in Melodifestivalen 2014 in hopes of representing Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She competed in the first heat with the song “Casanova”. Elisa returned in Melodifestivalen 2021 with her song ‘Den du är’, which was eliminated in the semi-finals.

Medina

Medina is a Swedish hip hop duo formation with Arabic influences made up of Swedish artists of Tunisian descent, being Sam-E (born Sami Daniel Rekik), a former professional football player in Tunisia and Alibi (born Ali Jammali). Sam-E is also of Finnish descent as his mother is Finnish.

Sami Rekik of the duo took part in Melodifestivalen 2021 in collaboration with WAHL with the song “90-talet”. Medina reunited to enter Melodifestivalen 2022 with the song “In i dimman” and qualified for the final from Heat 4. At the final on 12 March 2022, they gained 109 points and finished in 3rd place.

Maria Sur

Maria Sur (born 31 December 2004) is a Ukrainian singer who lives and works in Sweden. She is best known for participating in Melodifestivalen 2023 with her song “Never Give Up”, finishing 9th in the Final.
