According to AFTONBLADET newspaper, a series of Swedish stars are boycotting Eurovision 2024 one after the other, canceling their performances in Malmö, in protest of Israel’s participation.
The first big loss is that of the Medina musical duo. Medina is a Swedish hip-hop duo, with Arabic influences, consisting of artists of Tunisian origin. They are Sami Daniel Rekik and Ali Jammali, who started their musical coexistence in 2003. Medina became known to the wider Eurovision audience through Melodifestivalen 2022, where they came in second place with their song “In i dimman”. They also won second place in this year’s Melodifestivalen with the song “Que Sera” .
Another big name, who canceled the participation in the Eurovision Village events is Dotter (Johanna Maria Jansson). Dotter, who made her Melodifestivalen debut in 2018 with “Cry”, reached the height of her glory in 2020 when she took second place with “Bulletproof”, while she came fourth with“Little Tot” in 2021 and twelfth with “It’s Not Easy to Write a Love Song” in 2024.
I don’t have much to say, I just think that it is not right for Israel to participate.
Dotter
The latest artist who chose to stay away from the preparties and other festive events in Malmö is Titiyo.
Born in Stockholm, but originally from Sierra Leone, Titiyo Yambalu Felicia Jah hasn’t made her Melodifestivalen debut yet, but her contribution to Swedish music is huge with 4 Grammy Awards under her belt.

The escalation of the protest against Israel’s participation by Swedish artists is not surprising, as there have been similar gestures by artists participating in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.
We remind you that the representatives of ten countries in Eurovision 2024, they issued a joint statement regarding the events taking place in Gaza, calling for a permanent ceasefire, the prevalence of peace and the return of the Israeli hostages.

Israel at Eurovision 2024 will be represented by “Hurricane” by Eden Golan with music and lyrics by Keren Peles, Stav Beger and Avi Ohayon. Eden Golan was selected through the music show for new talents HaKokhav Haba, which was organized by the country’s state broadcaster, KAN .
Israel has been drawn to the second semi-final of Eurovision 2024 (May 9), and will appear in fourteenth place.
