EUROVISION 2024: The participation list might be late, but not the news about the tickets!

The coveted Eurovision 2024 ticket slips will appear much earlier!

Since September, the organizers of this year’s Eurovision have told us that tickets this year will go on sale much earlier than in previous years. The aim is to start the process early so that those who are unable to find tickets for the Grand Final know that they have other options and can get ahead of them. The city of Malmö will host many parallel events , following the standards of Liverpool 2023 . So those who are there for Eurovision without a ticket to one of the live shows will definitely have alternatives.

With today’s announcement on X, the official Eurovision account prepares us for news on November 23, which is next Thursday.

“Announcing …an announcement” reads the caption, so we don’t know if on November 23rd we’ll find out when the ticketing platform opens (likely) or if we’ll get a surprise and the sale will start immediately.

35 COUNTRIES HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED SO FAR

At the same time, the question of the number of countries that will participate in the 2024 contest remains open. According to all the indications, EBU is working feverishly to secure the largest possible number of entries. That is why, and as everything shows, they will run out of time to make the official announcement, in order to ensure the conditions that will allow even 40 countries to be on the Malmo stage. For now, however, beyond the 35 confirmed countries (which you can see in detail HERE ), the fate of the following countries in Eurovision 2024 remains unknown:

🇦🇲 ARMENIA

🇦🇺 AUSTRALIA

🇷🇴 ROMANIA

🇲🇪 MONTENEGRO

🇧🇬 BULGARIA

🇫🇴 FAROES ISLANDS

For Armenia, there is no information so far about their plans. We will probably see them again this year at Eurovision.

It is equally likely that we will see Australia at this year’s Eurovision. The case of the distant country is special, as it participated in Eurovision until last year after a special invitation from the EBU with a five-year duration (2018-2023), while before (2015-2017) the invitation was given on an annual basis. We are waiting for the new invitation from the EBU, which is practically a given.

On the contrary, the scenario for Romania is pessimistic, as the TVR channel is still waiting for the approval of the budget for Eurovision 2024 from the Minister of Finance, as TVR itself cannot bear the burden of participation.

Montenegro , as happened with North Macedonia, is expected to return this year. Both Balkan countries did not take part in 2023 due to economic hardship. Nevertheless, the fact that they broadcast the 3 live Eurovision shows in May gives them the right, and also shows their intention, to return in 2024.

There is mystery surrounding the dispositions of the Bulgarian broadcaster. Although his earlier announcement explicitly and unequivocally rejected participation in Eurovision, his silence in recent months on the matter has raised questions.

The participation of the Faroe Islands is the least likely for 2024, but cannot be ruled out. The country – administratively part of Denmark – qualifies for its state channel to become a member of the EBU and has already submitted an application. It depends on the EBU now if it will be approved and how fast the process will ‘run’.

If we want to consider the most likely scenario, out of the 6 countries above, 4 have good chances to finally participate in Eurovision 2024: Armenia, Australia, Montenegro and Romania . So 39 is currently the most likely number of countries to participate.

However, the EBU, after announcing the permanence of the Contest slogan, prepared us for a delay in the announcement of the countries:

The list of Public Broadcasters participating next year (in Eurovision) is currently being finalized and will be published in full once preparations are complete.

So a little more patience for tickets and entries, as the Eurovision 2024 puzzle is slowly being completed. Stay tuned to ogaegreece.com!
