GREECE: ERT opened the public participation process for Eurovision 2023 selection!

As we have previously informed you, the procedure for the selection of Greece’s participation in Eurovision 2023 has changed! More specifically, the public will also participate in the process, together with the 7-member committee of ERT.

Those who are interested in becoming members of the “Public Committee” and vote for their favourite song, should submit a declaration to participate on the ERT website https://eurovision.ert.gr via a preconfigured form.

The dedicated digital platform opened yesterday, Thursday, December 8, at 10 am and will remain open for 48 hours, until Saturday, December 10, also at 10 am.

The seventy members of the Committee will be randomly selected, through a lottery process that ensures the impartiality and age representativeness of the Eurovision audience and which will also be recorded on video. Specifically, 25 members of the 18-24 age group, 20 members of the 25-34 age group, 15 members of the 35-44 age group and 10 members of the 45+ age group will be drawn.

The public voting will be held at ERT’s headquarters. All those who are related in any way to the nominations, candidates, companies, process and ERT are excluded. Everyone should responsibly declare that there will be no leakage through their participation in the process.

The Greek participation in Eurovision 2023 will be selected by the combination of both the Audience Committee and the 7-member ERT Committee voting, with a weighting factor of 50.6% in the vote of the Audience Committee, against 49.4% of the vote of the ERT Committee. That is exactly how the winning song will be selected in the Eurovision 2023 Final, following the recent change in the voting rules. It is the first time that ERT follows this procedure for the Greek participation selection.
