CYPRUS | Andrew Lambrou: “I imagine my stage presentation to be epic”!

With the arrival of the new year, preparations for Eurovision 2023 continue with greater intensity for all the participating countries.

Cyprus was the second country to announce its representative for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, who is 24-year-old Cypriot-born Andrew Lambrou. The song is highly anticipated as it is signed by experienced names such as Jimmy Jansson, Thomas Stengaard, Marcus Winther-John and Jimmy Thörnfeldt.

According to exclusive information from ogaegreece.com, the final form of the song is currently being shaped, with the inclusion of a live recording by a Stockholm string orchestra under the direction of the distinguished conductor and producer Mathias Bylund, who is also a Grammy winner for the string arrangement of Taylor Swift’s song “1989”.  In fact, a video clip is expected to be shot in late January to early February. Until the announcement of the song with the release of the video clip – around mid-February most likely – Andrew Lambrou continues to prepare the song as well as contacting the media in Cyprus and Greece.

How Andrew imagines his song in Liverpool

In an exclusive interview with journalist Yannis Poulopoulos and the show “Super Katerina” on ALPHA, the representative of Cyprus answered questions about his participation in the competition. In response to a question about how he imagines the song he will perform on the Liverpool stage, he replied: Epic. While he did not give a clear answer as to whether he would be dancing: “Maybe yes, maybe no… “, he said.

How did he feel when he heard his song for the first time? As he stated, “I got goosebumps! Immediately! And I put it on my dad and he got goosebumps too!” The first people to know that he was going to go to Eurovision with Cyprus were his parents and grandmother. His grandmother even told him from a young age, as he had been singing since he was 5 years old, that he would be on the Eurovision stage one day! “It’s a lifelong dream for me,” Andrew said.

Regarding his attempt to represent Australia in last year’s contest, Andrew said that he wasn’t too disappointed that he didn’t make it, and that he was happy to participate in the National Final and enter the world of Eurovision.

The most important moments of Eurovision for him were the victory of Elena Paparizou with “My Number One” and the participation of Eleni Foureira with Cyprus and “Fuego”. Besides, as Andrew said, his goal in this year’s contest is to reach the same height and he is confident that he can do it!
